When it comes to making your skin color with food coloring, it all depends on what shade your skin tone is as to what colors you’ll need to use. Let’s take a closer look.
- Light. If you have a lighter skin tone (Caucasian), it’s best to start with white fondant. Start off with 3 drops of red coloring. Then 2 drops of yellow coloring. You may need to add more yellow, depending on how pale you are. If you need to lighten the shade, don’t worry too much – you can also add more white fondant, or more food coloring if you need to go darker.
- Medium. If you have a medium skin tone (Hispanic and Asian), follow the recipe for the light skin tone, and then add one or two drops of brown food coloring. Alternatively, start with brown fondant, and add white.
- Dark. If you have a dark skin tone (African), it’s best to start with brown or black fondant. You can then add white fondant until you have achieved the skin color you’re looking for. For dark skin tones, you don’t typically need to use food coloring.
