Ingredients – Brown Butter Vs Ghee

  • 24oz of butter of your choice

Equipment

  • saucepan
  • storage jars/airtight container
  • a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer

Recipe

Step 1: Melt the Butter

Using a knife, cut the butter into small chunks and place in a saucepan over medium heat. Now leave the butter to melt. Leave the pan until foam begins to rise from the butter. At this point, you’ll need to lower the heat.

Step 2: Simmer the Butter – Brown Butter Vs Ghee

Now the heat is lowered, leave the butter to simmer for around 30 minutes. It should lose its color and solids should begin to form at the bottom of the pan. Ensure you’re stirring every so often to prevent the butter from burning.

Step 3: Store the Butter

Remove from heat and place a cheesecloth over the top of your jar. Now pour the ghee through the cloth and leave to cool. Once cool, you can seal the jar and either store it in a fridge, or in a cool, dry place. Enjoy!
