This gummy bear mold is great for many reasons! But potentially the biggest reason that made us want it instantly is its price! Considering what you get (which we will get to shortly) the price is incredible! Usually, you pay a lot to get something that still doesn’t work as well. But this mold is completely changing the game.
So, what exactly is this mold? This mold is sold on the Michaels website and is made by Celebrate It. It is light-blue in color and made from only food-grade silicone. The entire mold measures at 4 x 9 x 0.7-inches.

Why we love this mold
There are loads of reasons we love this mold – we don’t even know where to start. But, we will summarise the main benefits of this mold before going into more detail.
- Silicone is naturally non-stick
- The non-stick surface is easy to clean
- The mold is completely pliable and makes removing the gummies easy
- Very durable material
- Can be bought at a very affordable price
Because the mold is made from silicone, it is naturally non-stick. This means that the gummy mixture will most likely not stick to it if you used a reliable recipe. As you may know, gummy mixtures are extremely sticky and very difficult to handle. So, having a mold that makes this job much easier will come in handy!
The silicone material is also extremely easy to clean. You can simply put the entire tray inside of hot water and leave it there. Any leftover sticky mixture will easily melt away.
Furthermore, the silicone is very pliable. This makes it very easy to simply pop out the gummies without having to pry them out with toothpicks or spoons!
Silicone is also a very durable material and can last you a lifetime. You just need to constantly clean it thoroughly and prevent cutting or tearing it. Other than that, you can bend it and it will not break like plastic molds do.
And finally, as we have mentioned before, the price of this gummy bear mold from Michaels is exceptionally low. This means that you can even buy a few so you can make multiple flavors at a time! Or who knows, maybe you can start your own business!
How Do You Make Gummies Using A Gummy Bear Mold From Michaels?
So, if you are sold on this mold, let’s have a look at exactly how you can make gummy bears using it. Essentially, a gummy bear mixture is made using gelatine, flavoring, and water. There are many other recipes, but this is the easiest one that doesn’t require any cooking and cooling.
You can use 3 1/4-ounces gelatine to one a third cup cold water. We recommend using flavored gelatine powder, like the many ones from Jell-O. You can also add a touch of citric acid to give the gummies a slightly sour flavor.
Now, making the mixture is extremely easy. Whisk together the gelatine and cold water. Once you have a uniform mixture, allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to thicken. The gelatine powder will absorb the water and become soft. This process is also called gelatine blooming.
Once rested, microwave the mixture for 30 seconds to allow the granules to melt. Give it a whisk to ensure the heat is evenly distributed. Heat it for another 30 seconds and whisk again. You can then only microwave it for 10-15 seconds at a time to prevent the gelatine from burning.
Once your granules are completely melted, pour the mixture into the gummy bear mold from Michaels and allow them to set in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.
To remove the gummies, simply push the bottom of the mold to pop out each gummy.
Tips for using this gummy bear mold from Michaels
- We highly recommend coating the cavities of each mold with non-stick cooking spray. Have a look in our section below at the best way to do this.
- You can place the entire tray onto a cookie sheet or baking tray. This will prevent the mold from warping when you move it to the fridge. Overall, it makes handling the mold much easier.
- To store the gummies effectively, place them inside an airtight container. You can keep them at room temperature for weeks. They are very shelf-stable and won’t melt unless it gets very hot. Store them in a cool dry place, like the pantry.
How do prevent the gummies from sticking?
Even though this gummy bear mold from Michaels is non-stick, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
To completely prevent the gummy mixture from sticking to the mold, you can lightly brush it with non-stick cooking spray. Yes, we said brush! Spraying directly onto the silicone will give the gummies a funny flavor that you definitely do not want!
So instead, spray it directly onto a folded piece of paper towel. Then, using that, wipe the inside of each cavity well. This is the only effective method that won’t alter the flavor of your gummies.

FAQs
What can you use as a gummy mold?
You can virtually use any type of candy mold to make gummies in. But, if you want to make gummy bears, then naturally the mold should have a bear shape. Furthermore, silicone molds work much better than hard plastic ones for gummy candies. This is because the candy isn't solid so won't easily come out unless removed by hand. The flexible silicone makes this easy.
Can I make gummies in a plastic mold?
You can make gummies inside a plastic mold, but it will be much harder to remove than using a silicone mold. You will have to pry them out using a toothpick, needle, or fork of some kind. Because they don't have a hard texture, they won't come out like ice blocks.
How do you keep gummies from sticking to the mold?
You can spray a little bit of cooking or baking non-stick spray on a folded piece of kitchen or paper towel. Then, wipe the inside of the gummy cavity, reaching into every corner. This will provide extra assurance that the candies won't stick.
How do you fill gummy bear molds?
We recommend decanting the gelatine mixture (after being microwaved) into a pouring jug. Anything with a spout will work well. This tool will help you better control the amount of mixture you pour into each mold, as well as prevent a sticky mess on your hands.
