How To Make A Lego Cake Without Fondant

How to make a Lego cake without using fondant? DIY Lego-themed cakes everywhere. But, most of the Lego-themed cakes are fondant. Ingredients
  

  • 4 x600g of chilled white chocolate mud cakes
  • 2 pcs licorice
  • One-piece licorice strap
  • One red licorice sour strap
  • One mini marshmallow
  • 200 g of 3D gummy blocks or 200g of store-bought edible 3D lego blocks.
  • 750 g of butter at room temperature
  • 9 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup of milk about 125 ml
  • 3 tsp of yellow food coloring

Instructions 

  • To prepare your buttercream, you will need an electric mixer. Afterward, beat your butter inside a bowl. Make sure to whisk it till it becomes light and creamy. Then, gradually add your powdered sugar and milk. Ensure to mix constantly until well combined. Do not forget to add your food coloring and mix to combine.
    750 g of butter at room temperature, 9 cups of powdered sugar, 1/2 cup of milk about 125 ml, 3 tsp of yellow food coloring
  • Next, prepare a round cake board and place a small amount of buttercream. After that, place one piece of your cake. Bear in mind that the iced part should be facing up. Also, add your second layer to the iced portion of the cake. Then, gently press to flatten the surface. With that, repeat the steps until you have stacked all three layers of the cake.

  • Afterward, remove the icing from the last layer of your cake. With that, make sure to use a long serrated knife to trim the top layer. Do not forget to discard the icing. Then, cut a smaller disc from the last layer of the cake. With that, make sure to use a 10 cm round plate as a guide. After that, spread the cut-out disc of the cake with a small amount of buttercream. And place it frost-side down on top of the stacked cakes to attach it.

  • Then, crumb coat the stacked cake with a thin layer of buttercream. And chill for about fifteen minutes until set.
  • Next, spread the leftover frosting all over the top and sides of your cake. After that, be sure to cover it completely.
  • Ensure to cut your licorice piece into two eyebrows. And attach it to the side of your cake. Then, make sure to cut your licorice strap into thin strips. With that, be sure to use one strip to make a mouth. And the other strip to outline the tongue. Bear in mind, attach them to the cake.

  • Using a 2 cm round cutter, cut two eyes from the remaining licorice piece. And make a tongue from the red-colored sour strap. Afterward, slice the marshmallow thinly to create the eyes. Finally, decorate your Lego cake with the Gummy blocks or edible lego cake toppers.
