Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup of light corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp of water
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • tea bags of choice
  • gel food coloring of choice
  • silicone mold semi-circle
  • candy thermometer
  • optional fillings such as edible confetti, edible flowers, and luster dust

Instructions

  • Create the Liquid - Add the sugar, water, and light corn syrup to a saucepan or pot. Place your candy thermometer into the pot in preparation. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add the gel food coloring and stir with a spatula (preferably silicon). When the sugar mixture is ready, it should be around 300 degrees. At this point, you can remove it from heat.
  • Add to Molds - Using a spoon, add the liquid to your silicone mold. You'll have to do this quickly and carefully, as it will harden. Try to do this as evenly as possible. Remember, practice makes perfect! Be mindful that the sugar will be hot, so avoid using your fingers (no matter how tempting!). Leave to set for around 20 minutes. Once set, push out the bottom of the mold gently and remove HALF of the circle pieces, and leave the other half inside the mold.
  • Fill Your Molds - With the semi-circles left inside the mold, add the teabags of your choice (folded or otherwise). At this point, you can also add additional items such as edible flowers, edible confetti or luster dust. Be sure to leave the string of the teabag OUTSIDE the mold.
  • Complete Your Circles - Gently heat a skillet on low for several seconds. With the semi-circles you've removed from the mold, place on the skillet for a few seconds to heat the edges and then place onto one of the semi-circles still in the silicone mold. Repeat until all circles are complete and leave for around 10 minutes to ensure they're completely set. Once set, gently remove the tea bombs from the mold. Enjoy!
