Powdered Sugar Donuts Recipes

  • Prepare - Gather all of the ingredients you need for this recipe and preheat your oven to 400F. Grease 1 or 2 12-donut pans with cooking spray or butter. Leave to one side.
  • Prepare the Batter - Grab a bowl and add the following ingredients: flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and baking powder. Mix well until ingredients are combined. Measure out the buttermilk and add the oil and eggs to the buttermilk. Mix well. Add the bowl of wet ingredients to the tray and fold in gently. It’s important not to overmix the batter, so you want the mixture just combined.
  • Bake the Doughnuts - Scoop the batter into a piping bag and pipe it into your prepared donut pan tray. Be sure not to overfill each hole. Now place in the center of your preheated oven and bake for around 7-9 minutes. They need to be slightly golden brown on top. Leave to cool and repeat using all of your batter, if you only have one doughnut pan tray, as this recipe makes 24.
  • Powder Your Doughnuts - Add a small amount of cooking spray to each doughnut and dip into the powdered sugar, ensuring that it’s covered entirely. The oil helps the sugar to stick. Serve and enjoy!

  • Prepare - Gather the ingredients you need for this recipe and line a baking sheet with paper towels before you begin. Also fill up your fryer or pan with oil of your choice and heat until it reaches 350F. It needs to be this temperature when you add the doughnuts.
  • Prepare the Batter - While your oil is warming up, add all of the ingredients (bar the powdered sugar) into a bowl and mix until just combined. It’s important not to overmix as this can make the doughnuts chewy.
  • Fry the Doughnuts - Scoop batter into a ball type shape and drop into the hot oil. Be careful while doing this. Ensure you don’t add too many donuts at one time, as they won’t fry well enough. Remove from oil and place on the paper towels once they are puffy and are golden brown in color. Repeat until you have used all the batter and the doughnuts have dried off any excess oil.
  • Coat in Powdered Sugar - When the donuts have cooled down enough to touch, roll them in the powdered sugar. It’s best for them to be warm so that the powdered sugar sticks to them. The doughnuts are best served fresh and warm. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days if not eating immediately. Enjoy!
