01 1/4 cup unsalted butter 02 1/2 cup pure maple syrup 03 1 cup sifted powdered sugar 04 optional: 1/2 teaspoon maple extract Cakedecorist.com

Melt the unsalted butter and maple syrup together over medium heat in a small saucepan. Occasionally, give it a stir.

Take away from the heat and add in the powdered sugar, whisking it vigorously.

Taste it. If you would like a stronger maple flavor, add in the maple extract. Set it aside to cool and thicken! Use it once your donuts are also cool.
