  • Step One: Preheat Waffle Iron
  • Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray and preheat according to its instructions.
  • Step Two: Sift Ingredients
  • Triple sift flour, baking powder, malt, and salt with the mesh strainer into a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Step Three: Separate Eggs
  • Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks. Place the egg yolks into a medium bowl and the egg whites into a small bowl.
  • Step Four: Combine Egg Yolks, Milk and Butter
  • In the medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks, melted butter, and milk until fully combined.
  • Step Five: Add Egg Yolk Mixture to Flour Mixture
  • Add the egg yolk mixture to the flour mixture and stir briefly. It is alright if there are some lumps in the mixture.
  • Step Six: Add Egg Whites
  • Whip the egg whites until they are stiff. Add the egg whites to the mixture and fold together until fully combined. Add batter to waffle iron and cook.
  • These tasty waffles are great on their own or with butter, syrup, and fruit. Serve them warm with your favorite toppings.

  • Though these waffles taste great with traditional sweet toppings such as syrup, butter, whipped cream, ice cream, chocolate chips, and fruit, they also taste great as a savory dish. Try them with your favorite fried chicken dish with some syrup drizzled on top and you will not be disappointed.
  • When making the waffles, it is important to sift the dry ingredients. Sifting dry ingredients gets rid of any lumps while aerating. This allows the waffles to achieve a light and fluffy texture, free of any lumps. You can use a mesh strainer or sifter to sift your dry ingredients.
  • Waffles are best enjoyed right after they are made. However, if you do have leftover waffles, you can wrap them in aluminum foil or plastic wrap and store them in the fridge for one day. You can also store waffles wrapped in aluminum foil or in a zip lock bag in the freezer for up to two months.
