Incredible Maple Glaze For Donuts Recipe

Where are all donut lovers? They are my absolute favorite! I do not know if it is their fluffy texture or the amount of variety, but I have always loved them. I have gone through phases in regards to flavors. But right now, this maple glaze for donuts is my go-to recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • optional: 1/2 teaspoon maple extract

Instructions 

  • Step 1
  • Melt the butter and maple syrup together over medium heat in a small saucepan. Occasionally, give it a stir.
  • Step 2
  • Take away from the heat and add in the powdered sugar, whisking it vigorously.
  • Step 3
  • Taste it. If you would like a stronger maple flavor, add in the maple extract. Set it aside to cool and thicken! Use it once your donuts are also cool.

Notes

  • It is important to use pure dark maple syrup for this and not breakfast syrup. This will help with the colour of the glaze and also with flavour. Regular syrup does not have the depth of caramelly goodness we need.
  • We think that this recipe is best over spice flavored baked donuts. This choice will help bring out the greatness of the maple. Sally uses brown sugar, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon in her recipe. The ones she makes are easy and fast to make, as they take less than 15 minutes to bake. Plus, the batter can be mixed by hand.
