Instructions

Step one: Cream Butter

  • Grab a mixing bowl and add the butter, along with the vanilla extract. Using a medium speed on your mixer, cream the butter until light and fluffy. Be sure to scrape around the bowl as you go.

Step two: Add the Powdered Sugar

  • Gradually add the powdered sugar into the mix; as well as the milk powder and 3 tablespoons of water. Keep mixing until you reach the consistency you require.
  • This frosting comes out white, so you can add food coloring to it to reach your desired shade.

Notes

To keep the buttercream frosting fresh, store frosted baked goods and leftover frosting in the fridge. Make sure to cover your frosted baked goods in the fridge so they won’t absorb other odors from the fridge. The remaining buttercream frosting will last in the fridge for three days.
Make sure the baked goods you frost are completely cool. If the baked goods you frost are still warm, it will cause your buttercream frosting to melt and lose its consistency.
